TOM POMPLUN

Founder and publisher of the Graphic Classics series since 1991, Tom was born and raised in Whitewater, Wisconsin. After studying fine and commercial arts at the Art Institute of Boston, he returned to Wisconsin in 1976 to complete his BS in Art at UW–Madison and earn a Certificate in Printing from Madison Area Technical College. After thirteen years in advertising and a few more in electronic pre-press installation and training, in 1994 Tom formed his own one-man graphic design/prepress training company, Eureka Productions. He was also also co-founder of the literary magazine Rosebud, in 1993. He designed and produced the first twenty-six issues, gradually introducing comics into the magazine’s eclectic mix of fiction, poetry, and illustration. Tom left the magazine in 2003 to concentrate on Graphic Classics, for which he has been editor, designer, and publisher. Tom and his wife, Georgene, who provides considerable assistance in the production of Graphic Classics, live in a 130-year-old farmhouse near Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. She is a fine artist represented by the Fanny Garver Gallery in Madison. You can find several interviews with Tom online on this site.
