Just weeks after completing his art for On Wolf Mountain for Native American Classics, Robby McMurtry was tragically killed in a shooting at his home. The editors have dedicated the book to his memory.

Publisher Eureka Productions has pledged $1 for each book sold in the month of March 2013 to the Robby McMurtry Scholarship for the Arts. To make an additional donation, please find more information at the Robby McMurtry site.

Robby was of Scots-Irish, Cajun, and Comanche descent, and claimed to have been raised by coyotes near Loco, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts, and his two plays, Skins and The Great Turtle Migration, were the genesis of the Tulsa Indian Theater Company. Robby’s graphic novels include Native Heart, Gunplay, Relics, and The Road to Medicine Lodge. His paintings have been featured on many national magazine covers, and he lectured and exhibited his artwork across the US and throughout Europe. For examples of Robby’s art, see
