JOHN JENNINGS

John Jennings is an Associate Professor of Visual Studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Jennings is an illustrator, curator, and visual culture scholar who studies various aspects of the “black image” in popular media. He is also an activist, visual artist, and design educator who frequently writes and lectures on race and diversity issues in the arts. Jennings is the co-author of the graphic novel The Hole: Consumer Culture and co-founder of J2D2 Arts with research partner Damian Duffy. The latest book from Jennings and Duffy, Black Comix: African American Independent Comics Art and Culture, was released in June 2010.
