Randy DuBurke ( was born in Washington, Georgia. “I lived my first few years in rural Georgia with my mother’s parents. Then my parents brought me to New York where I immediately decided I wanted to be an artist and spent the subsequent years working for that goal,” says Randy. He has now been a professional illustrator for twenty years, having done comics, animation, editorial illustration, book covers and children’s books. Clients include Byron Priess, DC Comics, Vertigo Comics, Marvel Comics, The New York Times Book Review, MTV Animation, Chronicle Books, Clarion Books, and Lee and Low Books. He was awarded the 2003 Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe award for best new talent/illustration for his first children’s book The MoonRing. After spending most of his life in New York, Randy now lives with his wife and children in Switzerland.
